Michael Brasile-Varsity Head Coach & Offensive Coordinator

Coach Brasile is the head football coach at Woodstock High School and is a 1999 graduate of Woodstock, this will be his 3rd year in the position.  In high school Coach Brasile was a part of the 1997 Class 5A State Championship team along with the 1996 Quarterfinal and 1998 playoff teams.  He was an All Conference, All Area and All State (Honorable Mention) defensive and offensive lineman.  In college he received a full scholarship to Ball State University before transferring to Augustana College (’03) where he was a 4 year starter on the defensive line and was All-CCIW for 3 years, making the D3 playoffs in 2001.  He was previously a coach at Woodstock High School under head coach Steve Beard, where he served as a Freshmen assistant for 1 year and varsity assistant for 5 years from 2006-2011, making the playoffs in ’07, ’08 and semifinals in ’09.  Coach Brasile also coached at Leyden High School for 2 years under Tom Cerasani as a Freshmen assistant and Varsity assistant before being the head coach at Hampshire High School for 4 years (’14-’17), during his time at Hampshire Coach Brasile had a record of 14-23 with one playoff appearance in 2015 and was the recipient of the U.S. Marine Corp Semper Fi Award for coaches.  Coach Brasile is married to his wife Heidi and has two kids: step-daughter Anna and son Levi.

Pat Ryan – Varsity Defensive Coordinator & Safeties Coach

Coach Ryan is the Defensive Coordinator for Woodstock Blue Streaks and is a 2000 graduate of Woodstock High School. This will be his second year back at Woodstock. He played football for Woodstock Blue Streaks in the late 90s. Coach Ryan is pretty much a life long resident of Woodstock and a Lieutenant with the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and has been with the department for almost twenty years. Coach Ryan has been coaching high school football since the 2007. He started at Woodstock as an assistant at the Freshman level and worked his way up to Sophomore Defensive Coordinator. Coach Ryan took a short break form WHS and Coached at Marian Central for 4 years. At Marian, Coach Ryan started as Varsity Defensive Backs coach and worked up to Defensive Pass Coordinator and eventually up to Varsity Defensive Coordinator. While at Marian the team made the playoffs 3 of the 4 years making it to quarterfinals twice. Coach Ryan left Marian to comeback to the Woodstock Blue Streaks, as well as to coach with past teammate Mike Brasile, and past Coach Tom Mitchell. Coach Ryan has been married for 17 years and has three kids, Sean 16, Cassidy 13, and Cole 8.

Tom Mitchell – Varsity Assistant & Linebackers Coach

Coach Mitchell attended Woodstock High School and was a multi-sport athlete, playing football, basketball and tennis. Following graduation, Coach Mitchell went to Carroll College and played football. Coach Mitchell graduated with a degree in elementary education and began his teaching career in 1978. His first coaching position was at Marian Central in Woodstock. In 1981, Coach Mitchell joined the staff at Woodstock coaching football, basketball, wrestling and tennis.  He had the good fortune of being a part of two state championship teams while coaching at Woodstock.  His wife, Kelly, is also a Woodstock graduate and was a third-grade teacher at Dean Street Elementary until her retirement.  Their daughter, Chelsea, as well as their son, Keil, both graduated from Woodstock. Their daughter, Chelsea is married to Brett Oates and Coach Mitchell and his wife are the proud grandparents of their granddaughter, Charlee. Their son, Keil, is the defensive coordinator for the Frosh/Soph program.

Mickey Olhava – Varsity Assistant & Running Backs Coach

Coach Olhava is an assistant coach at Woodstock High School.  He is a 1997 graduate of Marian Central Catholic High School and a member of the 1995 Class 3A State Semi-Finalist team. He attended both MCC and Illinois State University, majoring in History Education. He has been a teacher in District 200 for the past 18 years, currently at Woodstock North High School.  Coach Olhava began coaching football at Northwood Middle School in 2007. After two years he began to coach at Woodstock North as the head sophomore coach and offensive coordinator as well as coaching running backs and quarterbacks in the triple option offense.  After seven years, Coach Olhava stepped away from the game to be with his wife, Mariah, a Woodstock High School graduate and a teacher at Woodstock North High School,  and daughter, Adalene.  He is now incredibly excited to be back at it, as a member of the Blue Streak coaching staff!!

Tony Walker – Frosh/Soph Head Coach & O Line/D Line Coach

Coach Walker has been the Frosh/Soph head coach for the past 2 years. During high school, he played offensive and defensive line for Iowa City City High School. In 1992, he was a letter-winner for The Little Hawks went undefeated (9-0) through their brand-new “super conference” schedule. They did lose to the eventual state champions during the 4A quarter finals, but still ended up ranked #2 in two major papers. Tony was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the 4-4 Durango (CO) High School freshman football team while first teaching. He has coached football, baseball, basketball and volleyball at various levels. His greatest sporting accomplishment is participating in Age-Group Triathlon Nationals in 2015, an Olympic distance triathlon, which is an invitation only event. He placed place 148 out of 180 men 40-44 years old.

Keil Mitchell – Frosh/Soph Defensive Coordinator & Corners Coach

Keil Mitchell is the Frosh/Soph Defensive Coordinator coach for the Woodstock Blue Streaks.  He graduated from Woodstock High School in 2009 where he served as the starting Free Safety for the 2008 Blue Streak defense that only allowed an average of 10 points per game; ranking them among the top defenses in the state of Illinois.  Keil then enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the fall of 2009, playing club football for the Panthers and eventually working his way up to captain status and a player/coach for their defense.  He returned to Woodstock Football as a volunteer coach for the Sophomore program in the Fall of 2016.  The following season he was promoted to Defensive Coordinator of the Sophomore squad where he continues to work today.

Logan Kunzie – Frosh/Soph Offensive Coordinator & Quarterbacks Coach

Coach Kunzie is the frosh/soph offensive coordinator at Woodstock High School and is a 2010 graduate of WHS. In high school, Coach Kunzie was a part of the 2009 semi-finalist and 2008 playoff teams. He was selected All-Conference, 1st Team All-Area, and All-State as Quarterback. In college, he played under Coach Stan Zweifel at the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa. There, he was awarded All-Conference Academic 3 years and was a member of the 2011 IAAC Championship and Division III playoff qualifier team. Previously, Coach Kunzie coached as the sophomore offensive coordinator at Dubuque Senior High School with a 10-8 record. He has moved back from Iowa to be closer to family and proudly wear the blue and white again. Coach is married to his wife Lisa and recently welcomed his first child, Landry, in June.

Zach Cullum – Frosh/Soph Assistant & Wide Receivers Coach

Zach Cullum is an assistant coach at the frosh/soph level at Woodstock High School. Zach Cullum played 4 years of football at Woodstock High School from 2012 to 2016.  He was a Wide Receiver his Freshman year and a Quarterback his last three years of high school. Zach went on to play Tight End at Monmouth College, but he transferred after a semester to McHenry County College. He will continue going to school at Northern Illinois University next year. Zach’s high school coaching career started in 2017. He was a Quarterback coach at the Sophomore level where he coached under Jon Brown, the current Offensive Coordinator for the varsity team at Woodstock High School.

 Ed Carroll – Assistant Coach & O Line/D Line Coach

Coach Carroll is the new offensive and defensive line coach at Woodstock High School, and is also a 1987 graduate of WHS.  This will be his first year at this position.  In high school he was a part of the 1985 playoff team as well as the conference champions.  He was a two year starter on the offensive line and a two way player his senior year, in which he was an all conference all area player.  He previously coached at St. Mary where he was an offensive and defensive coordinator and was Assistant Head Coach for 4 years.  St. Mary went 35-5 during that time with 3 consecutive Super Bowl Championships.  He is married to his wife of 16 years, Andrea, and has 5 children, Alli, Bailey, Brandon, Gunnar and Keegan, and a granddaughter Charli.

Ben Blake – Assistant Coach & O Line/D Line Coach

Coach Blake is a position coach at Woodstock High School for the offensive line. Coach Blake graduated from Wheaton North High School in 2010. During his tenure at Wheaton North, Coach Blake played football for all 4 years and was the right tackle on the 2009 Quarter final team. During his senior year, he was named Linemen of the week three times, lead weight room and foot speed training sessions outside of practice and was recruited for D1 and D3 football. He was also on the Wheaton North basketball team. Coach Blake coaching experience dates back to 2010 where he coached an AAU girl’s basketball team. The team was very successful and won their conference championship while toting only one loss. Upon graduation, Coach Blake attended Baylor University and graduated 2014 with a degree in electrical and computer engineering. He recently moved to Woodstock last May 2019 with his Wife Alyssa and two dogs.
